NIAGARA REGION, ON Enjoy locally prepared takeout meals and help build affordable homes for hardworking Niagara families when you participate in Home for Dinner.
Habitat for Humanity Niagara is once again holding its community fundraising initiative Home for Dinner. From May 1 – 31, when locals order $25 or more of takeout from a selection of participating restaurants Habitat Niagara’s sponsoring partners will donate $5 to Habitat’s home building projects.
The initiative was born out of the global pandemic when the province went into lockdown and non-essential business had to temporarily close. Habitat Niagara wanted to be a good neighbour and help the local restaurant industry which was hardest hit.
“We couldn’t be happier to hold this initiative for a second year in a row,” explains Lorraine Snihur, Chief Development Officer with Habitat Niagara. “With support from the community and our generous sponsoring partners, local restaurants increase their revenue and Habitat Niagara receives funds to support our mission. It’s a win-win!”
Last year members of the community purchased 15,425 takeout meals that totaled $25, which generated more than $385,000 in revenue for those restaurants and Habitat Niagara received $30,000 from its sponsoring partners.
Habitat Niagara is encouraging the community to visit www.homefordinner.ca to order choose from a list of participating restaurants and place a minimum $25 takeout order during the month of May.
Customers enjoy great food, happily support local businesses, and help Habitat Niagara build affordable homes for local families.
Everyone wins with Home for Dinner.
