Frequently Asked Questions

When I order takeout from one of the participating restaurants, do I have to donate money to Habitat Niagara?

No (unless you want to!). For the month of May, when you order $25 or more in takeout food from one of our participating restaurants our generous partners will donate $5 per $25 takeout order!

It runs from May 1st to the 31st, 2022.

Can I order through a delivery service (Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc.)?

If a participating restaurant has a third-party food delivery service, you can certainly order from them. If your takeout order is more than $25 (before taxes, delivery fees or tip) then our partners will donate $5 to Habitat Niagara.

Why isn’t my favourite restaurant on the list?

Before Home for Dinner goes live to the public, we connect with a variety of restaurants across the region to see if they would like to participate, and although we may not reach all of them, Home for Dinner gives you a great opportunity to try a new one!

You can also have your favourite restaurant reach out to us to be included next year! Have them email christy@habitatniagara.ca

What if I would like to donate to Habitat for Humanity Niagara, how would I do that?

What if I order $100 worth of takeout food from a participating restaurant, does Habitat Niagara get $20 donated to them from their partners?

For every takeout order totaling $25 or more, $5 gets donated to Habitat Niagara. If you order $100 worth of takeout food (you are doing a great job supporting a local business) and Habitat Niagara gets $5!

If the restaurants don’t donate anything, what’s in it for them to participate in Home for Dinner?

We initially created this community initiative to support local restaurants and help them get back on their feet because they have been greatly impacted by the global health pandemic. We wanted to give back, support our neighbours and help build stronger communities! So, by a restaurant participating in Home for Dinner, we’re hoping that they will see an increase in business during the month of May, and possibly gain new customers, it’s a win-win!
